Artwork Description

The plight of tigers is an ongoing travesty. After watching a documentary on the poaching of tigers, Emma felt compelled to draw a portrait to help raise money for this majestic, endangered species. Emma wanted to create a work that captured the intense stare of a tiger, to help the viewer connect with the subject and look beyond the creature’s beauty and see another living being.

Upon completion, the character of this portrait reminded Emma of an old family photograph. A picture of a bygone era – of something that no longer exists. Emma believes this is sadly how we may view tigers in the coming decades, which lead to the name ‘Memory’.

25% of the proceeds of print sales will be donated to the Born Free Foundation to support the amazing work they do, including protecting the habitats of endangered species like the tiger. Born Free’s initiatives work in central India and Thailand to tackle the poaching crisis, safeguard tiger habitats, and find ways for communities and wildlife to live together peacefully in the remaining strongholds for wild tigers.
